Storm
Sometimes it takes a storm to really know the light -
the scent of rain, the weight of clouds
pulling down the sky.
*
Sometimes it takes a storm to know how you feel -
to understand indigo and the varnished sun
lighting up the fields.
*
It takes the rain between the lines to know what sorrow finds;
the way a cloud divides sometimes - the clearing and the blue.
*
I love you.

suppose
Life is an old man carrying flowers on his head.
.
young death sits in a cafe
smiling, a piece of money held between
his thumb and first finger
.
(i say "will he buy flowers" to you
and "Death is young
life wears velour trousers
life totters, life has a beard" i
.
say to you who are silent.-"Do you see
Life? he is there and here,
or that, or this
or nothing or an old man 3 thirds
asleep, on his head
flowers, always crying
to nobody something about les
roses les bluets
yes,
will He buy?
Les belles bottes-oh hear
, pas cheres")
.
and my love slowly answered I think so. But
I think I see someone else
.
there is a lady, whose name is Afterwards
she is sitting beside young death, is slender;
likes flowers.

Numbers
All of the number-seeking I’ve been doing on google images led me to a post on numbers at The Big Foto, which is really cool (go look at it!) and got me wondering about favourite numbers.
Coincidentally, mine is 4 and a few of its multiples (especially 16), mostly because I like squares.
On a slightly unrelated topic, I discovered aliquot sums today. The internet is a wonderful thing....

Water
I have a thing about water. The way it feels, the way it sounds, the way it looks, sparkling in the sun - even the way it smells, hitting the dry earth and turning the dust into growth. Grahamstown is in a part of South Africa currently experiencing a very very serious drought, but at Rhodes we don’t really feel that. Water still pours from our shower heads at more than 30 litres a minute...
LovE
Oh, I’m a wandering soul. I’m still walking the line that leads me home. Alone. All I’ve known. I’ve still got mountains to climb on my own. On my own. Do you love me enough to let me go? Do you love me enough to let me go? To let me follow through, let me fall for you, my love. Do you love me enough to let me go? Back from the dead of winter. Back from the dead...
